Background
Following significant growth a greenfields warehouse and distribution facility was planned for construction with the intention to realise improvement opportunities through automation.
The Problem
A lack of technical expertise led to the inability to make a final selection for future automation. Assessment was also complicated by other supply chain constraints which were not fully understood.
The Results
We reviewed key supply chain elements to identify evidence based improvement opportunities and developed a roadmap to make corrections to realise future benefits. We also made specific recommendations on the implementation of automated equipment.
The Process
Working with the operations teams and management we investigated actual processes in place and performed a thorough data driven analysis of supply chain activity upon which to base our recommendations.
